Volunteerism is the heart of The Arc. The Arc is a place where people from all backgrounds and all walks of life join their hearts and hands, values and visions, time and talents to build brighter futures for Texans with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You can GET INVOLVED in a variety of ways to support our efforts to create opportunities for inclusion for our family members and friends with disabilities:

You can DONATE FUNDS to The Arc:
  • Your tax-deductible financial gifts support The Arc's advocacy, training and programs benefiting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Donors are valued partners in pursuing The Arc's Mission. Click here for more information on The Arc's giving opportunities.

You can DONATE HOUSEHOLD ITEMS to The Arc:
  • In Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin and San Antonio, you can support our Household Recycling program by donating gently used clothing or household goods to The Arc. Our trucks come to your neighborhood several times each year. We will be sure to notify you when we are in your area. Click here for more details about our Household Recycling program.

You can DONATE TIME to The Arc:
  • Local chapters of The Arc need volunteers to support local programs benefiting people with disabilities and their families. Use Locate a Chapter to locate the chapter in your community.
  • If you would be interested in participating on a state-level committee or even as an elected member of our Board of Directors, email the Executive Director. Vacancies are limited but we value committed, informed and dynamic leaders at the state level.

You can DONATE YOUR VEHICLE to The Arc:
  • Avoid the hassle of reselling your old vehicle AND receive a tax break all while helping to support the programs and services of The Arc of Texas. Donate Online Now! Prefer to speak to a person? Call us at 1-877-ARC-CAR0 (1-877-272-2270) and one of our friendly operators will assist you.

You can make a PLANNED GIFT to The Arc.
  • Help ensure the long-term stability of The Arc of Texas by establishing a planned gift. The most common planned gifts are bequests to charities made through your will, but there are countless other options available to meet your personal needs and wishes. With the help of an estate planner, you can express your personal values by integrating your charitable, family and financial goals.

You can ADVOCATE for The Arc's priorities at the local, state and national levels:
  • Many of the services and benefits now available to people with disabilities are supported by federal or state funds and are founded on laws, rules and regulations established at the state and federal level. It is critical to have a strong voice at the State Capitol in Austin and in Washington D.C. Join hundreds of other advocates in staying abreast of major developments in public policy and participate regularly on our "action team" to communicate The Arc's message to your representatives in Austin and Washington.

Volunteerism has always been at the heart of The Arc's effort to build better futures. Now, more than ever, volunteers make the difference. Won't you join the effort?
